Datameer Blog

Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend

By on October 22, 2012

Time. It’s the most precious thing we have, yet every day we waste too many hours trying to make immature technology work for us.

Three years ago, we were a small team of friends who had worked together on Hadoop technology since its beginning, and we founded Datameer with one mission in mind. We wanted to dramatically simplify data analytics and deliver the fastest time to insight possible. With Hadoop, there was no limitation of storage and compute anymore and we felt that machine power could be used to overcome the slow, cumbersome, manual processes like ETL or data modeling that always gets in the way of finding insights.

Fast forward to today, and we are a group of almost 70 friends that are passionate about the idea. That idea has enabled people get ahead and stay ahead of their competition, prepare for the Olympics and even conduct academic and medical research that will help make the world a better place. Today we are proud to call 3 of the top 5 banks, 3 of the top 5 credit cards, 2 of the top 5 telcos, major retail, logistics, antivirus, gaming companies, the government,  researchers and individuals our customers.

Over 80 petabytes of data was analyzed with Datameer in the last 10 months alone. That’s twice the size of all the written works of mankind, in every language. It’s almost half of the data that Facebook collects in a year with over a billion users. And while that’s amazing, we’re even prouder of the countless hours we’ve been able to give back to our customers over these past few years.

But we didn’t stop there.

Today, we’re introducing Datameer Analytics App Market, the first marketplace for buying and selling pre-packaged analytic applications. It’s a true marketplace that connects data scientists and subject matter experts with end users.

As an expert, you can capitalize on your know-how and make your analytics application available to thousands of users that install Datameer every month.

As a user, all it takes is a single click to download an application and get instant insights into your data. Applications can be customized, extended, and even combined, meaning the apps are essentially building blocks for your analytics, and you never have to start from scratch again.

Over the last month, we’ve worked with several great partners to develop a set of truly amazing analytic apps, and many more will come in the next few weeks.

Learn more about the new App Market here, and if you’re at Hadoop World + Strata this week, be sure to come by our stand #29 to see how Datameer analytic apps can help you get from data to insight faster than ever.
