**In this weekly blog series, engineering and support staff at Datameer share their favorite features in Datameer.**
Datameer is being used in data-driven companies of all sizes, from small startups to gigantic enterprises, and ranges from having a single user to hundreds depending on the company size. For easy authentication, Datameer easily connects to external user repositories like Active Directory or LDAP. As always, feel free to jump to the video below to see how it’s done, or continue reading for some pictures with words. 🙂
First, navigate to the Admin > Authentication page. Select “remote authentication system” and choose your remote user repository from the drop-down menu.
Enter your server URL, IP Address and port number, user details and password, then choose your query options. You can leave them as default or talk to your LDAP admin for any special configurations. Finally, choose your group filters, including include or exclude group names as applicable, then rebuild your cache.
To finalize the integration, head to the “users” section under Authentication. Start typing a user name, the names should automatically populate, and then you can assign their role and give them access to Datameer.
And that’s it. With these simple steps you can set up your authentication in Datameer in no time.
