Have you ever wanted to look at the sentiment in a Wikipedia article on a topic or person? Well now you can with the Wikipedia Sentiment app. The apps shows 500 revisions on the Barack Obama and Mitt Romney articles. You can change the data import to get data from other Wikipedia pages to compare sentiment of companies, individuals or any article in Wikipedia. NOTE that this App runs about an hour since it's a lot of data to be analyzed.
Compares the sentiment and activity of the latest revisions of two Wikipedia pages. The application comes with 500 revisions for the pages of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. You can retrieve revisions for different pages from wikipedia by using a curl command accessing the Wikipedia API: curl -d "&pages=Barack_Obama&offset=2012-01-01T00:00:01Z&action=submit" http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Export -o "BarackObamaRevisions_2012.xml" You can adjust the parameters as you need it for your purposes. See http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Parameters_to_Special:Export#cite_note-historynote-0 for more information about this MediaWiki API. This will return an xml file. Before you import it to Datameer, remove everything until the first opening <revision> tag. At the end of the file remove every line below the last closing </revision> tag (should be only the last two lines). Then you can upload the file using the xml file upload as it is set up in this application.
