The Qlik scalability tools are available in Qlikview as well as Qlik Sense*.

(*In Qlik Sense, the Enterprise as well as Standard Versions can be downloaded.)

These tools are designed by the Qlik Scalability Center, which is responsible for testing the performance and scalability of all Qlik products.

The download of Scalability Tools is free from the Qlik Community to assist in planning and maintaining your Qlik deployment.

What do these Scalability tools do?

As the term suggests, these tools are for performance and scalability testing and  can serve many different purposes.

Why would an organization need to run  performance tests:

  • Regular load and performance
Performance tests can be run to imitate current usage patterns; these test results are used to understand how the deployment performs in normal circumstances.
  • Impact of new deployment on performance
Comparative performance tests with a newly developed app in place; these test results are used to understand how the deployment performs with a new app introduced.
  • Modification of an existing app
Comparative performance tests with the modified app in place, these test results are used to understand how the deployment performs with a modification to an existing app introduced
  • Resolving performance issues
Apps with reported user performance issues, these test results are used to resolve the known issues.
  • Planning for future growth
Anticipated usage patterns performance testing, these tests are used to identify where additional resources might be needed.

Qlik performance tools simulate how users work with applications for a better understanding of performance and scalability challenges.

Valuable analysis for your hardware requirement plan or expansion requirements, use these tools to check resource consumption and identify the best deployment configurations. With new application deployments, these tools help to determine the suitable application designs from a scaling and performance perspective

Besides regular load and performance testing, what else can Qlik Scalability Tools do?

Availability Testing

The tools can be used to ensure that the deployment is always available.

Stress Testing

The tools can be used to determine the robustness of the deployment by testing it beyond the limits of regular operation.

Pre-caching

The pre-caching process triggers specific application selections and actions to cache their calculations. The purpose of this process is to save users valuable time by fetching data from the cache

Regression Testing

The regression testing tool allows for comparing and analyzing differences in result sets in older and newer versions of Qlik products, showing where changes impact performance.

Hardware Benchmarking

The hardware benchmarking package collects and compares information about how Qlik products perform in different environments.

App Evaluation

The App Evaluator tool assists with the quality assurance process to evaluate Qlik Sense applications before deployment. It can block low-performing applications and helps to determine how to improve and deploy applications for the best possible user experience
