One of the great advantages of working with a semantic solution is that analysts can continue working with the tools they are already familiar with and obtain consistent results. Spotlight allows users to connect their BI or data science tools to the views created in Spotlight for further analysis.
Analyzing a View
The first step before analyzing a dataset is to get access to it. To start the process, once you login into the Spotlight UI, find the workspace that contains the view that you want to analyze.
From the flow window, click on Open Workbench
Select the view to make sure it contains all the data that you are looking for.
If the dataset is ready to go and you don’t need to add any further operations to it. Select the tool you want to connect to from the top right corner of the workbench. You have multiple options: Tableau, Jupyter Notebooks, Looker, or download a CSV file if you want to import it into a different tool.
Next, depending on the tool that you are using, you will need to provide credentials to complete the connection. These credentials are the same ones you used to log into the Spotlight UI.
The steps that we took in this tutorial allowed us to connect Spotlight to any of the supported external tools. For more details on this process please check out the Spotlight documentation. As always, we look forward to your feedback. Please get in touch if you have any questions, comments, or other ideas.
