  • Stefan Groschupf is a big data veteran and serial entrepreneur with strong roots in the open source community. He co-founded Datameer in 2009 after several years of architecting and implementing distributed big data analytic systems for companies like Apple, Hoffmann La Roche and the European Union.

    Stefan served as Datameer's CEO until 2016, leading the company through a period of triple digit growth, before taking on his current role directing product innovation and development.

    He was one of the very few early contributors to Nutch, the open source project that spun out Hadoop, which is expected to be a $50 billion dollar business by 2020. Technologies designed and coded by Stefan run in all 20 of the Fortune 20 companies in the world, and innovative open source technologies like Kafka, Storm, Katta and Spark all rely on technology Stefan designed a decade ago.

    Prior to Datameer, Peter consulted on a number of big data business intelligence projects with companies such as EMI Music and Krugle. Earlier, he was architect and developer for Deutsche Post and their ePost project, a distributed production system that processed more than 1 billion letters per year. Peter studied biology and has a Diplom (i.e., a master’s degree) in biochemistry and bioinformatics from the University of Köln.
