What's New in DAS?

Datameer Analytics Solution (DAS) Version 1.3.6 and 1.3.7

New Features

  • Higher Precision
DAS now includes a new data field type - Big Decimal. It allows for higher precision (32 decimal places by default) than floating point representation and results are also more exact than float values.
  • Enhanced Security
External LDAP and Active Directory connections now support filtering by group when importing users into DAS. The internal authentication system now allows users to change their own passwords.
  • Data Safety
Administrators can now create datastores containing a set file path prefix to limit users to a subdirectory when they create import or export jobs. Import and export file paths are added to the file path prefix preventing other users reading or writing to restricted directories located on the same system. In addition, datastores can now be limited to only import and export jobs.

DAS does not delete data which does not match the current file name pattern during export jobs with "Clear target directory first" selected. And importantly, the DAS private home folder (or one of its parents) may not be used as an export target folder anymore.
  • Support for Hadoop Distributions
DAS now supports the latest MapR 1.1.3 and Cloudera's CDH3U1 distributions, including HBase 0.90.3, and IBM's BigInsights EE 1.2 Hadoop dist (IHC).

Enhancement

  • Faster user interface
Improvements have been made to the UI so that it is more responsive when working with workbooks or using lists of many items.

  • Developers SDK
The DAS SDK now supports storing configuration values encrypted in the database.

  • CSV Import
When sample data is imported along with a separate header file, DAS now auto-detects the data field types.

"As a result of using DAS, nurago is better able to help our clients identify and analyze patterns in behavioral data of panel members. DAS helps us as a market research vendor to scale for our most granular data requirements and greatly simplifies the integration of multiple sources. In addition, DAS makes reporting on big data analytics directly accessible to our analysts so that they don't need to turn to developers for their requirements."
