Introducing Datameer 2.0 – Data Analytics, Democratized

Boy, what a ride!

I remember my first post to the Nutch (the birth place of Hadoop) mailing list in 2003 was “Hi! I believe Information should be free! How can I help?” We had long email conversations why it didn’t make sense to use a traditional database. We invested a lot of effort to optimize for analytical, schema-free sequential data write-and-read access. Nutch-192  anybody? We optimized for local sequential data access long before folks started implementing the famous Google Map Reduce papers.

Its been nearly a decade since that email and we see now that data analytics will play a role in finding the cure for cancer, help find the the smallest particles that hold our universe together, and maybe find water on other planets. But we’ll also be able to improve performance of our online stores, identify fraud, and even find rogue traders.

We founded Datameer with the goal to democratize data analytics and help everyone to find the insights in data that moves the needle and makes a difference.

Today’s world of data is complex and with MMP databases, we have a good handle on data volume. But the constantly growing number of data sources and types and the speed of change makes any traditional data analytics approach a grind. With a tightly coupled, three-tier data analytics architecture, we constantly have to update our static database schema every time there is a new data source or an unanticipated query. With every database schema change, we update all ETL scripts and all queries and all dashboards. We need something better than this.

Maybe the most significant observation/prognostication to every technology revolution we’ve had in the last 40 years is Moore’s Law. Gordon Moore’s law made the personal computer revolution possible, brought us the servers to built the internet, and brought us stunning devices like the iPhone.

It’s time that we take advantage of it and radically simplify data analytics to free the users who are held hostage with the time consuming, cumbersome, three-tier data analytics approach.

We are proud to report that in the last two years, Datameer has been deployed in some of the world’s biggest banks, at the biggest credit card companies, the biggest retail companies, the biggest telecommunication providers and high-growth start ups around the world with enormous success.

We are even more proud to announce today that we have now truly democratized data analytics with Datameer 2.0. With our Personal, Workgroup and Enterprise editions, we make data analytics not just simple, but fun and effortless for everyone.

Datameer 2.0 is the only application you need, no ETL tool, no database, no additional analytics or visualization tool. Just one application, double-click to install, and you can start analyzing data. We come with more than 25 data source connectors, 200+ data analytics functions, and a new WYSIWYG business Infographic Designer to actually communicate you data — not just visualize it.

Take Datameer 2.0 for a test ride  and let us know how we can make it even better, since, of course, we won’t stop here. :)
