Somehow another year has gone by and it again managed to be crazier than the last. Today I’m excited to share with you all some of our biggest news of the year, that we’ve closed a $19 million round in funding from venerable brands Citi Ventures, Software AG, Workday, and our lead investor in the round, Next World Capital. Needless to say, this post next year should have plenty of news of growth and continued customer success, worldwide. You can get the full details in our press release, but for now, I’d like to share a few highlights of the work the amazing Datameer team pulled off in 12 short months.
February: Fast Company named Datameer one of the most innovative companies in Big Data.
March: We kicked off our 9-city Big Data Roadshow in San Mateo, and have met with hundreds of people on the tour in Chicago, New York, Washington D.C., London, Frankfurt, Boston, and Seattle since.
June: June was huge. We unveiled Datameer 3.0 & Smart Analytics at Hadoop Summit, but even more exciting, we were honored to have Sky Christopherson keynote at Hadoop Summit, sharing the story of how the US Women’s Olympic Cycling team used Datameer to get from a huge 5-second deficit at the world qualifiers to winning the Silver Medal at the London 2012 Olympics.
August: We were honored to find out that Ventana Research had awarded us their Ventana Innovation Award for Business Analytics.
September: Our awesome partner-turned-investor Workday released their Big Data Analytics application for HCM & Finance, built using Datameer technology, to a packed house at their annual Workday Rising conference.
November: Perhaps one of our proudest accomplishments of 2013, in November we released a $49 version of Datameer where 100% of proceeds went to saving elephants orphaned by the ivory trade. Just last week, I was thrilled to share the Hadoop community helped us donate an amazing $10,000 to the cause. We couldn’t be more grateful to the community.
December: As you now know, we’ve raised an additional $19 million to help us put the pedal to the metal in 2014.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us get to where we are today. Here’s wishing you all a happy and healthy holidays, and to your continued success in 2014 as well.
