Datameer & The London 2012 Olympics!

Okay, it’s been some pretty exciting times over here at Datameer, but the fact that we’re working with one of the U.S. Olympic teams is pretty unreal. We’re doing our own take on Moneyball with the team to analyze a bunch of different performance, health and environment-related data to help each of the team’s athletes individually prepare for #London2012. How cool is that?

We all know millions of dollars have been invested in helping to optimize athlete performance by creating lighter, more aerodynamic gear and clothing, etc., but now it’s data’s time to shine. Races are lost or won in milliseconds, take the Men’s cycling team sprint results from Beijing for example. Great Britain took the gold, beating out Silver medalists France by 0.523 seconds. The Bronze medal was an even closer call – Germany beat Australia by a mere 0.008 seconds. (Go Germany!)

We’re really proud to be helping part of Team USA. Want to do some Olympic data crunching for yourself? Go download your free trial of Datameer and have at it. Oh and by the way, we just issued an update that now lets you share ANY infographic you create in Datameer on Twitter, so don’t be afraid to show your work!

Go Team USA!
